We are thrilled to announce in-person NSF practice sessions for Math, Science, Geography, Spelling and Vocabulary. The
program is significantly improved from last year, and we look forward to helping the students; read on!

Based on parent feedback, we will hold all practice sessions on weekends, and mainly on Saturdays. There will be two sessions on most days. There will be a 10 minute break between sessions. Students may attend one or both sessions.

Details:

  1. Students: Practice-sessions are offered to students in grades 1-8. Please see the table below about the sessions offered per student-grade. Please be consistent in attendance; content of a particular day may depend on earlier sessions.

  2. Instructors: Sessions will be led by advanced high-school students. They have received significant accolades and are taking AP/IB/College classes in their subjects of expertise. Adult NSF volunteers will be present to supervise.

  3. Parents may stay or leave. Arrive 5-10 minutes early for class, and on time for pickup; no escorts are available post-class.

  4. Dates and times: Please see the table and note #9 below.

  5. Venue: Griffith Park (Police) Building. Address: 4755 SW Griffith Drive, Beaverton, OR 97005. Room numbers are listed below. The police prefer that you don’t buzz in for entry. A volunteer will let you in prior to class.

  6. Cost, and Registration: We request a donation of $50 if your student plans to attend the Math sessions (about 15) and a donation of $50 if your student plans to attend the Science sessions (about 9). Other practice sessions are free.

    • If your employer matches donations, the preferred method of donation is through your employer's approved mechanisms. Please send us a copy/screenshot of the receipt. Our email address is nsfpdx@gmail.com

    • You can also donate by bringing a check payable to North South Foundation, or by cash.

    • Registration for practice sessions is not required.

    • Students are encouraged and expected to register for NSF bees held in April.

    • A liability waiver is required.

  7. Books: Math L2 will be taught using Singapore Math 5A and 5B books. These will be available for purchase on-site. These and other book levels are also available at Apna Bazaar. Study material for other subjects will be provided.

  8. What to bring: Notebook, pencils, eraser, water-bottle, books (see #7), etc.

  9. Schedule, Curriculum, Updates and Communication: Please see the table below. This is subject to change per student, instructor, venue or weather considerations. Check our facebook page for any last minute updates/cancellations.
