North South Foundation encourages academic excellence among children in the US through numerous educational contests. NSF was established in 1989 and is a non-profit organization (tax id: 36-3659998) run by volunteers under the 501(c) (3) code. We have been conducting contests for the last 20+ years. The money raised through the numerous academic contests is utilized to award scholarships to exceptionally qualified needy students in India entering colleges regardless of religion, gender, caste or geographic origin. The contests (spelling, vocabulary, geography, math, science, public speaking and essay writing) are for children from grades 1 through 10. Since 1989, NSF has provided for more than 4000 scholarships. Our Portland Chapter volunteers also conduct free Math and Science Practice sessions for elementary and middle school age children in the local community.
